What this lesson covers

An order volume offer applies a tiered discount based on the total cart value. For example: spend $75 and get 10% off, spend $100 and get 15% off. The discount applies automatically. No code entry, no friction.

It is one of the simplest offers to launch and works across virtually every niche.

When to use Order Volume

  • You want to increase AOV without tying the incentive to a specific product.
  • Your average order value is close to a natural “threshold” (customers would add one more item to hit a target).
  • You want to run a promotion that feels like a reward, not a discount code.

The best threshold is 10–20% above your current average order value. If you’re not sure what that is, open Shopify Sidekick and ask: “What is my average order value over the last 30 days?”
